The internet is an amazing place, here are 6 of the greatest speeches ever made by man/womankind. You were more than likely not there, (especially in the case of Socrates) however you can now experience the words, thoughts and feelings of the moment echoing through the years. All are as relevant now as they were then.
6. Socrates’ Speech During His Trial is one of the most exceptional pieces of oration delivered in the history of mankind. Under the circumstances of Socrates’ trial, he faces death and calmly confronts his two versions of possible afterlife scenarios.
5. Incredible speech by Patrick Henry, Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death. As inspiration goes, this is one of the most rousing speeches from the last 500 years.
4. Frederick Douglass’ famous “The Hypocrisy of American Slavery”, this is a wake up call to the american people. Although they were rejoicing their independence, not everyone in the country felt the same.

2. Winston Churchill, 1940, the announcement that brought war from Britain into the world, this is the Blood, toil, Tears and Sweat, by seas by air and by the land. To wage war against tyranny, that is our policy. Victory at all costs. I am at loathe to add another war speech to this blog but, this is an incredible articulation of intention and a significant piece of history. We can hear this one in reality recorded at the time, unlike previous posts created by actors.
1. Martin Luther King Jr, 1963, I have a dream. In my opinion so far in my life, this is the most inspirational speech in history. If you do one thing today, watch it.
